From the artist: "This painting dabbles in my well-known belief in reincarnation. Meaningful to me is the street viewed through the ragged outline of a face, suggesting the essential question of identity. On the wall to the left are niches set into the brick, and within them, mannequins like discarded bodies. The face in the tree was a vision seen spontaneously on a visit to Frida Kahlo's garden in Mexico City."
