September 9, 1931 (Katowice) - November 27, 2013 (Warsaw). Graduated from Katowice Annex of Krakow ASP (Prof. Mroszczak's class) in 1952. Poster designer since 1950, also set and graphic designer, illustrator, cartoonist. Exhibited at all shows of Polish poster design. Individual exhibits in Berlin - 1957 & 1959, Sofia - 1959, Budapest - 1959, Vienna - 1960, Katowice - 1961, Moscow - 1965, Warsaw - 1966 & 1972. Awards: III prize @ II OWP - 1955, Film poster award - 1956, 1st Prize for art poster - 1961, Trepkowski Award - 1956, Toulouse-Lautrec Award for film poster, Paris- 1959, 4 consecutive awards for Best Film Poster of the Year : 1961-64. Gold Medal @ International Editors' Exhibit, Leipzig - 1965. Diploma from the Museum of Contemporary Art for film posters - Sao Paulo 1961. 1st Prize @ 2nd Int'l Poster Biennale, Lahti - 1977. 'Hollywood Reporter' Awards winner - 1975 & 1985.

Though not literally a festival poster, we've categorized this as such because Waldemar Swierzy produced an entire series of posters paying tribute to musical greats around the world. This poster celebrates the contributions of Czeslaw Nieman, Polish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
