A poster published by the AFL-CIO Polish Workers Aid Fund, during one of the most tense times of modern Polish political history. The publication of this poster was bookended by declaration of martial law in Poland in 1981 and its reversal in 1983, quickly followed by labor reforms, the disintegration of the Soviet empire, the fall of the Berlin wall, socio-economic upheaval, and of course an alleviation of the artistic suppression that had marked Polish culture for the previous 40 years.
